Texworld 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey, attracts interest

The first Texworld Istanbul, to be organized on November 4-6 2014, has attracted a lot of attention as over 150 textile and apparel companies from 10 countries confirmed their participation as exhibitors at the trade show in November this year.

Messe Frankfurt, the organizer of the event, has stated that the exhibitors will represent the world's leading textile manufacturing nations, including China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan and South Korea as well as the host country, Turkey.

Pakistan will present cotton and functional fabrics, while Taiwan focuses on blended fabrics, knitted and functional fabrics for leisurewear and sportswear. India, South Korea and Indonesia will be represented by lace, embroidery, silk and silky aspects. Turkey, South Korea and Taiwan will also show products for the knitwear sector.

The Texworld exhibition is aimed primarily at buyers and trade visitors from Turkey, Middle East, central Asia, southeast Europe, parts of eastern Europe and Russia.

"The large number of registrations received to date confirms that we were on the right track when we decided to hold a biannual platform in this region for the international textile industry," said Olaf Schmidt, vice president of textiles and textile technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

Turkey is one of the world's biggest textile exporters and holds seventh place when it comes to world exports of garments. According to the Turkish government, the country's textile and apparel industry annual turnover is around US$28bn. Source
